Looks like it’s time for our second stop on our bookish road trip. I know, I know. It’s the same city as the last post. But, I couldn’t possibly skip over this bookstore on this trip.
E. Shaver bookstore is right up my alley. It has everything I look for in a bookstore. Cool bookish items, a vast variety of books, and a knowledgable and friendly staff. I actually walked into this store to escape the heat while walking around the squares in Savannah. It was air conditioned and lets face it I can’t turn down a bookstore.
I could never have imagined what awaited me inside. As I walked inside I was greeted by one of the booksellers as well as the shop cat. The inside is an adorable house with multiple rooms filled with books. They have a great selection of local offers and history. There’s also two huge rooms with children’s and young adults books. Of course this was the room I was most excited for. They had a great deal of new releases but they also had some copies that I haven’t seen in a while. My little sister who is 7 and my cousin who is 6 found plenty of books as well. The selection of adult fiction novels was just as large. They had many popular titles as well as some more obscure titles.
My favorite part of the bookshop was the personalization. In a nook of store there was a shelf with the employee’s recommendations and top picks. Let me just tell you I trusted these opinions as soon as I saw Six of Crows on the shelf. (Check out our Six of Crows post to see my love for the book.) Each of the books had a little bookmark in the book describing why the person chose it and why you might like it. This is where I discovered The Violet Girls, which I am so excited to read. Not only was this book something I would never have discovered on my own it was also signed. Which, let’s be real, is always an added bonus.
I bought two books from this store. They were both priced fairly. The prices were the tag prices. I also got a tote bag which I fell in love with. It is a canvas tote with multiple authors reimagined as punk versions of themselves. If you want to check out the tote you can see it on the Out of Print website here.
If you are in Savannah, Georgia definitely check out this store. It is easily overlooked since it blends in with the historic surroundings. However, it would definitely be a disappointment if you don’t get a chance to experience this adorable shop. I would highly recommend E. Shaver, Bookseller to all readers and book lovers. I will leave their contact information below. Be sure to check them out!
