Top Five Wednesday

As I said yesterday, I’m in a bit of a reading slump. So, after reading many comments on here and on Instagram I decided I would do a post about the books I’m most excited to read this year once they come out.

And boy do I have a lot of books I’m excited about. In an attempt to make this post manageable, I decided to cut it to the five books I’m most looking forward to for the rest of 2016.

Alas, here it is:

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Everything Maas writes is gold. If you asked any of my friends who my favorite author was they would quickly tell you Maas. This is the fifth book the of Throne of Glass series and if you haven’t read it then you are really missing out. Also, waiting for Empire of Storms to come out has been my salvation after reading A Court of Mist and Fury. I’m honestly not sure what I’m going to do once I finish Empire of Storms and have to face the next year of Maas-less novels.

A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir

Tahir has hyped me up for the second book of her series over the last few months just by tweeting about how many characters she’s killed. I loved the first book of this series because Tahir’s writing is so mesmerizing. She managed to create a totally new premise to a book while also not making the entire first novel a massive set up for the rest of her series. A Torch Against The Night is going to be incredible and I don’t know if I’m going to be able to handle it.

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi

I’m starting to sound like a broken record. Mafi is such a solid writer and while Furthermore is meant to be a middle grade book, you can be sure I’ll be reading it. I mean, if it’s anything like the Shatter Me series in writing than I think I’ll be good.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

I feel like such an idiot for just realizing that Bardugo existed. Six of Crows was so damn good and I think about my fictional bff Jesper at least once a week. I’m 100 percent positive that when I get this book in my hands I won’t leave my room until I’ve finished it.

Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Illuminae was the first book I read of 2016 and man what a book. I’m excited to see where Kaufman and Kristoff take the series from the first book as the end of Illuminae did a good job giving readers an idea of what they would see in Gemina. Mostly, I’m excited to see if they employed the same writing/art style as the last one because that really gave personality to something that shouldn’t have had a personality.

Ok. I think this did it. Reading slump no more. This whole list has gotten me so excited I now feel the itch to go read the remainder of The Rose and The Dagger.

What books are you most excited for?
