ParnassusNext – Unboxing

It’s that time again! The new book subscription boxes are being mailed out. This month at Thrice Read Caitlynn, Eden, and myself have decided to try a number of different book subscription boxes. First up? ParnassusNext!

I discovered ParnassusNext when I visited their store, Parnassus Books in Nashville, TN. I absolutely fell in love with the store while I was in Nashville. (If you would like to see my review on the store check it out here!) At the store I saw all kinds of signs about ParnassusNext and I knew I had to try it.

ParnassusNext is a subscription box which sends out a new release, signed, first edition book each month. The cost for this subscription is the cost of the book plus $6 shipping. To find out more about this box go to their website and check it out.

This was my first month receiving ParnassusNext and I have to say I was not disappointed. This box is much different than my Owlcrate that I typically receive each month. Parnassus sent out the title of the book ahead of time. Therefore, I already knew what I was getting in my box. Also, there are not any bookish goodies in this box.

That being said, I really loved my ParnassusNext box. This month the book was The Reader by TraciChee. This is a book that sounds right up my alley. I would not have typically picked up this book on my own. So, I’m glad that Parnassus gave me a shove in this direction.

This is one of the cheaper book boxes. This is because the only item you receive is the book. I love this idea. I already get all kinds of bookish things in my Owlcrate. So, it’s nice to be able to receive a new book that’s not on my radar. (And that is signed!) This way I can have my cake and eat it too without becoming inundated with knick knacks from multiple subscription boxes.

Also included in this box was a sneak peek of Jessica Cluess’ A Shadow Bright and Burning. This was a very pleasant surprise.

If you have been looking for a cheaper alternative to book subscription boxes. Or, if you have been looking for a box that does not include the various bookish knick knacks then you should definitely check out ParnassusNext! I know I will be continuing to receive my box from them.
