Audiobook Review – Seriously… I’m Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres

“Accept who you are. Unless you’re a serial killer.”
― Ellen DeGeneres, Seriously… I’m Kidding

It’s no surprise that I feel like I have no time to read. I mean I’ve only said it in posts about a million times. However, with all of the new releases coming out of huge books I really feel like I don’t have time to read outside of that. Eden and I drive about 45 minutes to and from work everyday. Last week we figured we should utilize that time by listening to audiobooks. So, I picked out Seriously… I’m Kidding by Ellen DeGeneres.

My favorite audiobooks are comedy autobiographies that are read by the author. I feel as though it adds an extra layer to the book. Often times the author will add in special notes to the audiobook and it really transforms the experience into one that is more personal.I chose Ellen DeGeneres’ book because I truly love Ellen. She is hilarious while still being kind hearted.

This audiobook was everything I wanted it to be. It was clever while still being inspiring and heartwarming. No, I didn’t burst out laughing while listening to this book. I did chuckle along throughout the book.

Ellen has a charm about her. She expels positivity and happiness from every pore of her being. Honestly, listening to this book left me in an amazing mood for the rest of the day. Was this book so funny I couldn’t contain my laughter? No. But, it made me feel good and it was the perfect combination of humor and inspiration.

Just like her talk show Ellen’s book went for the positive spin. She doesn’t go for the cheap jokes that are at another person’s expense and I really love that about Ellen.

All in all, I rated this book a 4/5 stars. I would love to read her other books and I think they may be my next audiobook purchases.

Do you listen to audiobooks? What are your favorites? Let me know so I can check them out!

  1. I LOVE ELLEN! ❤ And when Top Ten Tuesday was all about audio and most people were talking about audiobooks I was all "I'm really not one for audiobooks… if I really had to listen to one I'd probably choose Harry" (Because it's Harry. I mean really. When is Harry ever not the right choice?) But now you have pointed out the one book that I would actually really love to listen to. ❤ Thanks 😀

  2. I’m currently listening to Omari and the People by Stephen Whitfield, which by the way is currently running its tour.
I don’t know if you know Curt Simmons, but he’s the narrator of this story and his delivery is just brilliant. Aside from that, I haven’t listened to any other audiobooks as this is only my 1st one.
