We are switching it up a bit today! We are having a really busy day and are going to post our discussion of Three Dark Crowns tomorrow so I am posting my review of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover today!
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…
That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.
Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever. – Goodreads Synopsis
Ok so I’m two books into my CoHo obsession and I am in love. Hopeless was just what I needed in a book, especially after reading It Ends With Us.
From the very beginning of the book I loved everything about Sky and her friends. I really liked her relationship with Six (no matter how short-lived) and especially Breckin. Breckin is my favorite Mormon ever.
Holder was a great, mysterious bad boy that I was itching to know more about. His and Sky’s relationship was one I could get behind from the very beginning. I was so glad that there was finally someone who could make Sky feel something (convenient yet nice).
The twist… oh man, the twist. It was so unexpected for me (hello, gullible reader) everything about Sky’s life before the adoption was so interesting to slowly learn with Sky, there wasn’t a second where I wasn’t on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happened!
Overall, it was a great book and as soon as I finished it I bought Losing Hope (Holder’s perspective) and can’t wait to pick that up to read!
I gave this book a 4.5/5 stars!
