Bookish Book Lover Tag

Okay, I felt the need to do a book tag after my series of reviews from last week. I stumbled upon this tag and thought it would be a lot of fun. It made me really think about my reading trends from the past year. So, I really enjoyed it.

  • Use the original banner.
  • Answer the questions!
  • Use lots of book covers.
  • Tag your friends.

What book are you currently reading?

Right now I’m in the middle of Landline by Rainbow Rowell. It is the only book of Rowell’s that I haven’t read yet. So, I thought it was about time.

What’s the last book you finished?

The last book I finished was actually one for our Thrice Read book club. It was the very festive My True Love Gave to Me which was a collection of short stories by multiple authors. We did a discussion on this book Saturday. If you would like to check it out go here.

Favorite book you read this year?

Ugh this is the hardest question! I’ve read so many great books this year. However, if I had to choose I would choose Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. This was another Thrice Read book club read. (You can read it here.) I’m obsessed with Bardugo’s writing and the Grisha world.

What genre have you read most this year?

My reading has been pretty diverse this year genre wise. Lately I’ve been quite a lot of contemporary novels. However, prior to the last month I was reading mainly fantasy. Is that a cop out answer? Probably.

What genre have you read least this year?

This would probably be historical fiction. That’s really disappointing for me because I love historical fiction. It is one of my favorite genres to read. I think I have a harder time finding good historical fiction novels.

What genre do you want to read more of?

I would like to dive more into adult fiction and classics in the next year. Because the focus on booktube/bookstagram/book blogs is often on YA novels I don’t get a lot of recommendations for adult fiction. So, I’m hoping to be better about seeking out different adult fiction novels.

How many books have you read this year, and what’s your goal?

I have read 80 books this year. My original goal was 75 so I beat that. I would love to get at least 5 books in for the next 5 days to beat last year’s book count.

What’s the last book you bought?

I just ordered a few books with all of my gift cards. The books I ordered were: The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord, The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chockshi, Tatiana and Alexander by Paullina Simons, My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier, The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron, Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow

What book are you saving up to buy next?

I want to get the anniversary edition of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I love this novel and I think this edition is gorgeous.

How many books did you check out last library visit?

This answer honestly makes me cringe. I haven’t checked any books out of the library this year. I should really get better about utilizing libraries.

What’s a book you can’t wait to read?

My answer has to be A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas. I am so ready to get back into this series. I love the characters and I’m excited to see where it will go.

What’s a series you’d recommend to everyone?

I would definitely definitely recommend the Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo duology. Seriously those books are everything I could every want in a series. They are so good!

Who’s an author you’re hoping writes more?

So many authors. I would love to read more from Stephanie Perkins, Katharine McGee, and Leigh Bardugo. I love all of them.

A few books your heart adores?

There are too many to count to be honest. A few that come to mind are

  • The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
  • Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
  • Riders by Veronica Rossi
  • Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

What series’ coming conclusion makes you sad?

I really don’t mind series ending. Though it makes me sad I won’t be able to look forward to another book in the series, I like when an author knows when it’s time to end it. So, I’m not really upset about any series ending.

What books are on your wish-list?

So many. There’s just too many to be fair. Can I just say all of the new releases for next year? I’m the worst. I know.
