Monday Musings – Ok, It’s a Top Ten Monday…

Today is my first ever blog post where I just could not find something interesting to post about. Since we are almost a year into the blog, I don’t think that’s too bad, but it still sucks! I usually like to give you guys book tags and reviews but I’ve been having problems finding good book tags to do (plus I just did one yesterday, check out my cats book tag here) and I have a new puppy and it’s been so difficult fitting in extra books during the week to get a review posted!

Nevertheless, I searched and searched far and wide (and also started and scraped three posts for today before I settled) and I have finally come up with something that I wanted to do. Today I am going to give you a top ten list of my most anticipated books on my TBR that I just can’t wait to read.

So you are probably wondering why it takes me forever to get through my TBR, well with Thrice Read, we read one book a week to discuss for our “book club” portion of this blog (check out our discussion tab at the top) which would mean that I would have to fit two or three books into one week in order to get another book read that’s on my TBR that we aren’t going to do a discussion post on. So here are some books that I have already that I just haven’t gotten to yet!

Top Ten Most Anticipated on my TBR

10. Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard

Ever since reading Truthwitch I’ve wanted to see more of what Dennard has to offer and the SS&D series was exactly what I wanted to see! I want to get started on this series and you can check out what Eden thought about it here.

9. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

This has been on my list for a while now, a patient at work came up to me one day and told me about this book and how it was the best book she had read in all of 2016.

8. The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I’m not sure why I’ve slacked so much on reading this book. I do like to wait until all the books of a series are out before I start a series so I think that’s the excuse I’m going to go with… 😉

7. The Black Prism by Brent Weeks

This is the first intimidating adult fantasy books that I have picked up and I’ve heard many people talk about how great this series is. I think I’m still hesitant to dive into such an intimidating series, but I will do it.

6. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

According to Goodreads, I have read this book and only this book of Bracken’s Darkest Minds series but I cannot recall anything that happened in it or what it was even about so I’m ready to (technically, re-) read this series.

5. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons

Another book that has been on my TBR for forever, I don’t think it will take me long to get through this book, I’m just waiting for the right time I guess.

4. The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

This is a recent addition to my TBR that I made and I don’t think I’m going to regret it at all. It’s shorter than I thought it would be and there has been so much talk and hype around this book.

3. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

Eden and Jenn rave about Laini Taylor and I would love to get to this series before Strange the Dreamer comes out in March.

2. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I’ve been a major slacker on these Schwab books. I hate to say that I’ve only read one of her books so far and I can’t wait to get into more.

1. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

I’m pretty sure this is one of the first books/series that I had on my TBR before we started this blog and I just want to get into it so bad!

What do you guys think about my list? Are there any books on here that you’ve read or are wanting to read? Let me know!

  1. I love love love V E Schwab’s books, *especially* the Shades of Magic series. I can’t wait for the final book to be out (tomorrow!). I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone too, but I gave up on The Young Elites unfortunately. I know so many people who love it, but it wasn’t for me.

  2. I’ve read Mistborn and Darker Shade of Magic and really liked them! The last one of the Shades of Magic series is coming out this week so at least the full series will be finished before you start it!

  3. OMG I feel your pain!! I’ve picked up the Black Prism and Mistborn probably 10 times. I’ve read the first chapter each of those 10 times but never continue with them. It’s not that they’re bad, I just think that I’m too afraid that I’ll get too busy to read them quickly and won’t enjoy them because of it. I want to read them so bad but just haven’t. It’s awful!
