Why I Am a Reader Tag

Many things go into making us who we are. When I found this tag I fell in love. What makes me a reader? Find out by checking out my answers below!

1. Choose one word that would describe you as a reader.

I would say fickle. I go through stages where I’m obsessed with reading and then I have days where I don’t want to read anything at all.

2. What is the first book that made you fall in love with reading?

The first book series that I fell in love with was the Junior B. Jones books. I was obsessed with them in elementary school.

3. Hardcover or paperback?

Definitely hardcover. They are so much more durable. Plus they look very nice on my shelves. Lol.

4. How has reading shaped your identity?

It has made me a much more confident person. Reading allows people of all different walks of life to come together with a common love. Also, by finding protagonists that are stereotypical heroes has totally changed my mindset on what is important.

5. What book do you read when you want to be comforted?

I don’t reread a lot of books to be fair. However, I can count on Rainbow Rowell books to fulfill my need for comfort.

6. Who influenced you to be a reader?

Originally it was my family and teachers. However, my friends have become greater influences for my reading since high school. They force me to be the reader that I want to be.

7. Describe your dream reading lounge.

I love reading in cafes. It’s even better if it’s overcast and raining. So maybe a cafe in Portland would be nice.

8. What book changed the way you saw the world?
The first one that comes to mind is Flowers for Algernon. It really helped me to understand how individuals with learning disabilities can be treated in our society. Prior to reading this book I had no idea. I’m really happy I read this book in eight grade.
