It’s already half-way through 2017 and I can’t wait to see what the second half has to bring. I’m definitely most excited for YALLFest 2017 in the second half of this year! What are you most excited for?
Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2017
Alright, I’m going to do a top five again because there are seriously so many great books from this year already!
Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Scythe by Neal Shusterman
The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
That Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
(Also ACOWAR, but you know… Maas can’t dominate everything)
Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2017
A Court of Wings and Ruin is the only sequel I have read so far in 2017, so that will have to be my answer (but I think it would be my answer anyways.)
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet but Want To
I think Flame in the Mist is a new release that I am most excited to read right now!
Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of the Year
Definitely Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas…
Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst, it could have gone so far but it was really just a let down.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Everyone raved so much about it, but I totally wasn’t expecting the powerful, haunting book that I got instead. Would read again, 10/10.
Favorite New Author
Mindy McGinnis, our first read of hers was in November of last year and every book of hers that we have picked up have been phenomenal.
Favorite New Crush
I feel like my crush remains the same from last year… Oh Rhysand…
Favorite New Characters
There were so many that I loved meeting this year already! Just to name a few… Rosa from My Sister Rosa, Alex from The Female of the Species, Ove from A Man Called Ove, and all of the high lords from ACOTAR series.
Books That Made You Cry
A Man Called Ove really did me in and make me cry this year. That book was so well written.
Also, A Court of Wings and Ruin, this book ruined me (ha). But for real, so many feels and I bawled like such a big baby when I was reading it and man…
A Book That Made You Happy
I’m going to go with The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani. That was a great book and I can’t wait to continue it.
Most Beautiful Books You’ve Bought So Far This Year
Probably the UK hardcover edition of Caraval. I wasn’t expecting that edition (not sure why, it came in my Fairy Loot, which is based in the UK)…
What Books Do You Need to Read Before the End of the Year?
So many… umm, definitely Warcross by Marie Lu, it’s been a quick minute since we have seen anything from her so I’m excited to see what she has for us now!
