July Wrap-Up & August TBR

You know, I started the month of July on such a positive note.

I’d finished Saint Anything and was immediately off into Shadow and Bone and then I managed to finish nothing.

To be fair, I did finish Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo, I just haven’t posted my review for it yet. You can be sure that I’ll be posting my review for it on Friday.

Now, let’s get on with the shaming.

July Wrap Up

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I really enjoyed the first book in the Grisha Trilogy. This book was exciting and swoon-worthy packaged in a world that I can’t get enough of. For more, you can check out my review on it.

I’m not going to go into great detail about this book here. All I can say is that I really enjoyed it despite it taking me two weeks to finish. My review will be up on Friday.

Yep. That’s literally it. I think I’m in a slump because I’m really struggling to push myself to just sit down and read.

August TBR

With such a poorly executed July, I really want to make up for last month.

So, the goal for August is four books. That gives me eight books total with our weekly discussion reads. We’ll see if I can make this happen.

I figured it’d be a good time to finish out some series.

Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bardugo

This is the first book I want to pick up. I just finished Siege and Storm and I would love to finish this series while it’s fresh in my mind. Plus, I’m obsessed.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

It’s almost sacrilige that I haven’t finished this series yet. I mean, ACOL literally came out in February and I still haven’t taken the time to read it. That needs to change.

School For Good and Evil: The Last Ever After

Y’all, I love this series so much. I know a fourth book is coming out this year, but even more reason for my to read it now in preparation.

The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee

Jenn was a really big fan of this book. I figured it’s something a little away from the realm of fantasy and, as fantasy is the bulk of what I often read, I wouldn’t mind taking myself away into something outside of my comfort zone.

That’s it! What do you think? How does your August TBR look?

  1. I hope you love Conjuring of Light! It was definitely one of my favourite books to end a series. I only read Shadow and Bone and I didn’t enjoy it so I didn’t continue with the trilogy but I’m glad you enjoyed them!

  2. I still haven’t read Conjuring of Light despite having it since February (I even preordered it which makes it even more terrible) so I’m glad I’m not the only one! Good luck with your TBR!

  3. Nice! I admire anyone who can binge a series nowadays with all the distractions to start 100 other Fantasy series LOL! I really need to finish the Shades of Magic series smh, surprised I haven’t been spoiled with A Conjuring of Light. The Thousandth Floor is also on my TBR for this year *fingers crossed* Looks like you have a great line-up for August, Happy reading ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I started reading Shadow and Bone, but I had borrowed it from the library and I decided I would rather buy it instead. That was over a year ago and I still haven’t bought it, let alone read it.
