The Book Blogger Memory Challenge

I’ve got a pretty terrible memory. Seriously, I have horrible recall. But, I saw this challenge and knew I couldn’t resist. My competitive side really got to me. I found this over on Malcolm’s blog. But, it was originally created by Laura @ Laura’s Book Reviews. It was a lot of fun and I’m so glad I did it.

Here’s the deal. Answer these 10 questions before reading my answers. Your challenge is to answer all of them without looking at your shelves or online. After you’ve done that come back and see if you matched any of my answers!

Q1: Name a book written by an author called Michael.
Q2: Name a book with a dragon on the cover.
Q3: Name a book about a character called George.
Q4: Name a book written by an author with the surname Smith.
Q5: Name a book set in Australia.
Q6: Name a book with the name of a month in the title.
Q7: Name a book with a knife on the cover.
Q8: Name a book with the word ‘one’ in the title.
Q9: Name a book with a eponymous title.
Q10: Name a book turned into a movie.

  1. Name a book written by an author called Michael.
    • The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. I actually included this book in my Top Ten Tuesday the other day. So, it was at the front of my mind.
  2. Name a book with a dragon on the cover.
    • Eragon. I’ve never read this book. But, the cover immediately came to mind.
  3. Name a book about a character called George.
    • Okay, I’m cheating a bit. I’m using Harry Potter because of my love of the Weasley twins.
  4. Name a book written by an author with the surname Smith.
    • The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith
  5. Name a book set in Australia.
    • I think I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak. But, I’m not sure at all. I could totally be lying. (Upon researching apparently the setting isn’t explicitly named in the book. Oops)
  6. Name a book with the name of a month in the title.
    • May Queen Murders. This one was particularly difficult. I had to think long and hard.
  7. Name a book with a knife on the cover.
    • And I Darken, I’m currently reading the second book in this series. So, I came up with this one right away.
  8. Name a book with the word ‘one’ in the title.
    • Ready Player One. I literally could not think of a single book that also has one in the title.
  9. Name a book with a eponymous title.
    • My Sister Rosa
  10. Name a book turned into a movie.
    • The Book Thief. Because, of course this is what came to mind.

  1. Oh man, I failed miserably.

    1) No answer – I was able to dredge up the name Michael Crichton but couldn’t tell you any of his books (I wasn’t even 100% sure he was even an author) I do not have a single book on my “have read” list by an author named Michael
    2) Eragon – Love this book, this one was the easiest to answer
    3) Of Mice and Men
    4) No Answer – I am so bad with Author Names. Pride & Prejudice and Zombies is the only author on my “Have read” list that contains Smith
    5) Red Dawn – So I got the title wrong … I was thinking of “Tomorrow, When the War Began.” Red Dawn is a movie with almost the same plot, but the movie is set in the US while the book is in Australia.
    6) August Rush – So I could only think of the movie and was really hoping it was based off of a book. It’s not. But someone did write a random book with the same title so I will count that as a half win
    7) Defy – First thought was A Subtle Knife, but I was not sure it actually has a knife on the cover (some editions do, some don’t) so I went with Deft which for sure had a knife on the cover
    8) No Answer – For the life of me I could not think of anything. I was stuck on “The One” from The Matrix and was blocked. Looking now there are tons of books containing One in the title
    9) Eragon – I had to look up what eponymous meant
    10) Princess Bride – Favorite Movie!
