Rip It or Ship It Tag

Good morning everyone!

I thought I’d start off our weekend with a really fun tag that I found on Fiction No Chaser’s blog and thought it looked really cool. It was fun to put together, plus I picked Caitlynn and Jenn’s brains to get a larger ranger of character than what I alone would likely provide.

The Rules

The rules of the game are simple. We’re going to put a lot of fictional characters’ names into a cup and draw them out two at a time. Once we have a pairing, we’ll tell you if we RIP it or if we ship it. There’s going to be names from a variety of young adult, fantasy and paranormal novels and series, so we’re hoping that there’s some amusing pairings!

The Pairings

Rhys from a Court of Thorns and Roses & Gansey from The Raven Boys

I’m not really sure how this relationship would work. Not because I could only see Rhys with Feyre, but because I can’t see Gansey without Blue. However, both of these characters have incredible morals and want nothing more than the people around them to be happy. I could definitely see them being a hell of a pairing.

Verdict: Ship it

Kaz Brecker from Six of Crows & AIDEN from Illuminae

While I can’t stop chuckling at the idea of Kaz arguing with a computer, I can’t see him being able to get along with AIDEN. Mostly because I don’t think two characters that believe their God can work well together. However, I would love to see this interaction because I’m certian it would be hilarious.

Verdict: Rip it

Manon from the Throne of Glass series & Aeduan from Truthwitch

I’m noticing a bit of a pattern in the characters that I’ve chosen, which is that they’re all very certain that they’re all-powerful beings. Even though it goes against logic, I think Aeduan and Manon would actually be a great pair. Both are highly skilled in killing and are able to adapt to any situation. They would be a formidable together.

Verdict: Ship it

Eliza from Eliza and Her Monsters and Lada from And I Darken

This would be such a good relationship! Both Eliza and Lada are such different people on the surface, but completely alike underneath. I could see Eliza telling Lada that she was worthy of being a ruler and Lada telling Eliza that she would kill anyone that didn’t believe in Eliza’s stories. They would be so supportive and sweet and I think I need this to happen now.

Verdict: Ship it

Blue from The Raven Boys & Monty from The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue

These two would be so amazing together. I could just see Monty getting drunk at a party and Blue running behind him making jokes and giving the guests strange excuses for what’s happening. They would be such an amazing friend duo that the book could have zero plot and I’d still enjoy reading it.

Verdict: Ship it

Aelin from Throne of Glass and Lara Jean from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

I’m not sure this would work very well. Lara Jean is very type A and wants things to go as planned. She’s also a hopeless romantic and her favorite movie is Sleepless in Seattle. Meanwhile, Aelin is an angry orphan queen that used to kill people to survive. She’s rough around the edges and likes to leave people out of the loop. I don’t think her and Lara Jean would mesh well in the slightest.

Verdict: Rip it

Let me know what you think of the pairings! Are there any that you disagree with? Agree with?
