We completed our first readathon! The Tome Topple readathon was a huge thing to take on, but we did it!
Here is a recap of the readathon (you can also check out our original post here):
1. READ MORE THAN 1 TOME
2. READ A GRAPHIC NOVEL (STILL OVER 500 PAGES!)
3. READ A TOME THAT IS PART OF A SERIES
4. BUDDY READ A TOME
5. READ AN ADULT NOVEL
** BONUS CHALLENGES: CHECK OUT MY IG FOR IG CHALLENGES CLOSER TO THE READATHON! **
Caitlynn: I planned on completing three challenges for this readathon and I pretty much did that! I almost finished A Gathering of Shadows but didn’t quite finish it when the readathon ended.
I did finish Renegades with the Thrice Read girls and really, really enjoyed it!
So I completed Challenge 1, 3, and 4!
Eden: Like Caitlynn I finished challenges 1, 3, and 4.
We buddy read Renegades together and we’ll, hopefully, get a Saturday discussion post up for it this weekend. Overall though, the challenge did a lot to push me to read more and I’m actually really excited to keep reading.
Once I finished Renegades, I sailed through Tess of the Road which I absolutely loved and then started Carry On. While I got about halfway through Carry On, I didn’t have a chance to finish it as we went on a five day vacation to Asheville. However, I should be finished soon and intend on giving you guys my thoughts on it (spoiler: they’re going to be pretty positive).
Overall, the Time Topple readathon was really good for me and I got a lot out of it.
Jenn: So, I will admit I was a bit overzealous about my goals for this challenge. However, I did complete challenges 1,3, 4, and 5.
In total I only read 2 books, which is far less exciting than saying I completed 4 challenges. The first book as you can guess was Renegades by Marissa Meyer. I flew through this novel. This was my first priority as it was our discussion and buddy read for Thrice Read. I can’t wait to share our discussion with you guys!
After Renegades I dove right into the The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. Let me tell you that book is a beast. Honestly, this book was so intricate with it’s politics, world building, and magic system that I read it incredibly slowly. That being said, I loved the novel and I can’t wait to continue with the series. I’m so upset it took me so long to read it.
Right after I finished The Black Prism I started reading Obsidio, the third book in the Illuminae Files. I am really enjoying the novel. However, I haven’t finished it yet. So, my total was only 2 books. I am really happy with my progress. I got one very intimidating book, The Black Prism, off of my TBR and I’m so excited about that!
This was definitely a successful readathon.
