How to install the 1st public beta

Do you want to test the features of iOS 16 in the preview? You can now download the first beta version of the operating system update. As for the final version of iOS 16, it should be available to everyone next fall.

How to install the iOS 16 public beta?

Before installing the public beta, you should know that it may contain errors and bugs. Thus, Apple highly recommends backing up your iPhone before installing it.

Here are the steps to download the first public beta of iOS 16:

  1. From your mobile, go to the page dedicated to Apple’s beta software program,
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID, then click Download profile,
  3. Then go to the app Settings of your iPhone, then in More for your iPhone,
  4. On the Downloaded Profile tab, click Display Profilthen Install. (Note: if nothing appears in the tab More for your iPhone go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > Downloaded Profile > Install),
  5. Then restart your iPhone, then go to Settings then Generaland Software update.
  6. The iOS 16 public beta appears, so click Download and Install.

The new features of iOS 16

iOS 16 offers many new features that announce an improved experience on iPhone, such as:

  • The advanced customization of its locked screen,
  • A new display for notifications,
  • The ability to delete a message after sending it,
  • Live Text, to recognize text in an image or within a video,
  • Visual Look Up, to crop objects present in a photo,

A public beta for iPadOS 16

Apple also announced the first public beta for the future version of the iPad operating system: iPadOS 16. Here is the list of compatible models:

  • iPad Pro,
  • iPad Air (from 3rd generation),
  • iPad (from 5th generation),
  • iPad mini (from 5th generation).

To benefit from the public beta of iPadOS 16, the procedure is essentially the same as on iPhone. Go to the dedicated page from your iPad, then follow the same steps mentioned above.
