Instagram makes it easier to delete your account in the app on iOS
In order to comply with the new App Store standards, Instagram has announced that it now allows all iOS users to delete their social network account from the application on iPhone. Indeed, at the end of May 2022, the Apple application store had informed developers of the establishment of a new policy concerning the deletion of accounts. The App Store announced that from June 30, applications supporting the creation of an account should offer an integrated option allowing Internet users to easily delete it.
We want to give users more ways to control their experience and time spent on Instagram. That’s why we’ve rolled out the option to delete your account in Settings on iOS. You will also always have the option of temporarily deactivating your account before choosing to delete it, a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch.
How to delete your Instagram account via the application on iOS
To access the option integrated into the Instagram application on iOS, it’s very simple:
- Open the Instagram app, then tap your profile picture,
- Click on the three lines at the top right of the screen,
- In Accountchoose Delete account,
- You will then have the choice between deactivating or deleting your account.
Note that, by default, this is the option Disable Account which is selected. You have to click on Delete account to see a window appear, and select Proceed with account deletion to validate. If you opt to delete the account on the app, you still have 30 days to prevent Instagram from permanently deleting it.
